Visit to Pattaya by Khalid Ali from Bahrain.
During May 2008 sponsor Khalid Ali from the Kingdom of Bahrain made a visit to Pattaya to meet for the first time one of the two students he sponsors. Apart from visiting the school and taking his student on a shopping trip Khalid Ali also visited the slums on one of the Mercy Project's food runs and was able to see for himself the conditions in which many of these children are surviving.

After meeting his student Warundee at the school they then ventured to Tesco/Lotus for a shopping treat. The following are extracts from Khalid Ali's emailed report on his visit and give a flavour of the day:

The shopping trip to Tesco/Lotus was really nice .. We went first to KFC for lunch and all I wanted to do was just sit and watch her eat .. I met just one of the girls actually Wanrudee (and she looked a little different from her picture, shorter hair now but still sweet ) .. Buthsabha however, hadnt come in yet from her province so didnt get a chance to meet her .. The shopping was nice to, watching Wanrudee's little face as she picked up a Barbie and then some items for school as well ..

Absolutely right about the pink clothes and barbies, Wanrudee did indeed first run straight for the barbies and for some reason I picked up a pink dress that I thougth she would like and she did just that .. It was such a joy just watching her little eyes open brightly and her little smile .. Strangely enough she didnt like sweets when I offered to get her donuts from dunkin thats my weakness since we dont have it out here ..
