(F) DOB 02.12.1996

Lives with parents and brother in a small concrete room for which they pay 3000 B per month. Regular monthly income is 7000 B, but father has to pay hire purchase for his vehicle to enable him to work (supplies potable water).
Wants to be an artist. Helps mother in home.
Money insufficient to send children to school.
Supaporn Pungpa, F. (9/12/98)
Sudarat Pungpa F. (17/9/97)
attending Nern Plubwan School.
Parents both deceased (AIDS), being cared
for by their grandparents, also both AIDS victims. Both the girls are healthy.
Their wooden shelter is erected on land
owned by grandma's elder sister, so they pay
no rent, but they have to pay 120B and 350B respectively for water and electricity. The
house is in a poor state of repair.
The bathroom has no door, just a curtain,
and is open to the elements, partly shielded from the road by bushes.
Grandpa has an old motorcycle and
attachment donated by the children's
teacher, with which he collects trash, but
makes only a meagre amount of money.
They are sometimes helped by neighbours,
but are afraid to tell them they have AIDS in case they chase them away. (In fact, it transpired that one of the neighbours is a
friend
of my driver and he helps them whenever
he can.)
Grandpa's AIDS medication is free because
he has a 30B health card, but grandma
cannot remember anything which will help us
to get hers, so she has to pay - 300 to 400B per month. She also has a hearing problem.
School expenses for the children are 1,000B each, but if they haven't money for petrol (25B per day) they can't go to school.

Parents: Separated. Father takes care
of all the children. Drives mechanical
digger.
Income: A very irregular 8,500B per
month. Rent is 800B per month. Water
is free from municipality.
Home: One room in which all of them
live and sleep. The girls sleep on a
mattress, father and brother on the floor.
A ‘bathroom/toilet’ area is across the yard.
There is a storage area, attached, but open.
The girls (especially the elder) are growing
up and need a separate bedroom area. Weeranuch does all the cooking and
cleaning when she comes home from
school and drives the family motorcycle,
taking her father to work before taking them
all to school.
School Fees: All the children need lunch
money of 20B each per day = 3,600B per
year,
Action: We will check how best to divide the storage area to make it into a separate room
for the girls, and cost it out. The owner of the property lives nearby, and she has given her consent for this to be done.
